The Taiga Bluet, although it is called a Bluet, is not a true Bluet of the genus Enallagma. This species is one of the easiest Bluet-like damselflies to identify because the entire 6th and 7th abdominal segments are black except for a very thin light blue color. No other Wisconsin damselfly looks like this. This makes this very easy to identify even without binoculars.
