When Emerald Spreadwings are freshly mature they are easy to distinguish from the other Spreadwings. I saw this Spreadwing in June in both 2003 and 2004 making it one of the earliest Spreadwings in Central Wisconsin. They are somewhat smaller than the Common and Sweetflag Spreadwings, but they are very green and much stouter.
