Location: Town of Wheaton, Chippewa River floodplain
Giant Swallowtails, so plentiful two weeks ago, now gone (zero seen). A nice sunny afternoon and fritillaries, grass skippers, Cabbage Whites and an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Other notable no-shows: Monarchs and Viceroys.
Also a robber fly (asilidae) laying eggs near an ant nest opening.
