Location: Barrens north of Millston and west of Black River Falls
11:05 am to 2:58 pm, 77-85 degrees F, 5% sunshine, fog and occasional light rain. The highest number of Leonard's Skippers were on two Black River State Forest patches; one was a barrens restoration east of Cemetery Road over a half mile south of Lichtner or Seils Road. The other good spot was the east part of Dike 17 (S, W, and SW of parking lot). The 3 male and 2 female Karner Blues appeared fresh, as if from a partial 3rd brood. We saw 16 Karner Blues and 6 Leonard's Skippers in these sites on Aug. 16.
