54 Degrees, sunny skies with scattered clouds, gusty winds. At 11:30 Am a Monarch came over the tree line from the lake into the yard where we were working and landed in the Hawthorn. We watched it check out several of the rotting fruits, then it dropped to the ground, where I got my photo. Resting for a few minutes, it then took to the air once again, gaining altitude to the treetops and disappeared out of sight flying South.
