Location: 2 private gardens, west side of Madison
Around 2:30, after a doctor's appointment on the west side of Madison, I decided to stop by these two gardens on the chance I'd see a few butterflies. I was well rewarded. 30+ Painted Ladies, 20+ at the first (smaller) garden. They were evertwhere and nectaring on everything in sight, including cosmos. At one point, I could see 10 right in front of me. This was the most Painted Ladies I've ever seen at one time. Added bonus: I got to see 3 hummingbirds,, none of which stayed in one place long enough for a photo.
