12th annual Crex to the Barrens butterfly trek with 8 participants. Started on Crex, saw a single Olympia near Crex Ridge Road. Saw 3 more Olympias, two Spring Azures and three Silvery Blues at north end of Reed Lake. One Pine Elfin was on Springbrook Trail. A two-rut "road" to the east of Dry Landing Road just north of Clemens Creek on the Barrens yielded over 30 Hoary Elfins. Another ten were seen near bearberry on Gomulak Fire Lane. A few skittish Duskywing Skippers were seen at each site visited, but most refused to land for long and were hard to ID. Say fifteen undetermined Erynnis.
