SWBA Field Trip to Lower Wisconsin Riverway

Location: Within 15 mile diameter circle centered at Muscoda.
Iowa County

The 13th annual field trip (and NABA count), to the Lower Wis State Riverway was led by Douglas Buege. Sixteen observers found 215 butterflies of 27 species. Silver-spotted Skipper and Least Skipper had the highest count of the 13 years. Monarch numbers were 3rd highest. Silvery Checkerspot was new to the count. Migrants/immigrants were about average (Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Buckeye, Sootywing and Little Yellow. A Russet-tipped Clubtail (dragonfly) was photographed by Dorothy Legler, Pat Ready and Steve Thiessen. Thanks to all the participants!
