75 degrees and partly sunny. Field trip of the Southern Wisconsin Butterfly Association, led by Karl and Dorothy Legler. 24 participants. We found 19 species. Painted Lady was the most common butterfly! The astonishing find was the Reakirt's Blue, a very rare immigrant from the Southwest. Note the photo of black female Eastern Tiger Swallowtail which characteristically shows the underlying tiger stripes on the underside of the hindwing (photo by Pat Ready).
