Location: Buena Vista Grassland
74-89 degrees F, sunny. We walked 6 miles to survey 9 grassland patches and 1.5 miles in 2 barrens patches to check for Leonard's Skippers and late Regal Fritillaries. We saw 10 male, 2 female, and 2 unknown gender Regal Fritillaries in 6 of the grassland patches. A fresh wing condition Coral Hairstreak in the southwestern most 40 acres of the site on west Oak Street was among dwarf cherry trees like we see with the late flying cohort of Coral Hairstreaks in northern Wisconsin. The Little Yellow is the only one we've seen in 2020.
