Location: Southern edge of Birchwood Township
After not seeing a tiger swallowtail for several weeks, I saw a large, crisp-looking individual nectaring in the Monarda; seems to be an eastern tiger swallowtail, whereas those I photographed in early summer were Canadian. I also finally found a skipper that would hold still while I photographed it: a broad-winged skipper held in the clutches of a goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia).
