I was happily surprised to find that these were two different Eastern Comma. Never saw them together, but the photos make it obvious that they have differnt markings. I was also thrilled to see one of the Eastern Comma high in the Apple Tree landing on a rotten apple for food. I have only seen butterflies on the ground on rotting fruit prior to today.
I gave the Orange Sulphur a chase, but ended up empty handed in the photo department. I kicked it up three times and got good looks and then couldn't find it. I guess it was three strikes and I'm out! Did find a few blooming Dandelions and Asters so there is still butterfly food out there today.
Sunny, no wind, around 56 F, between 2 and 3 pm.
