Location: Kettle Morraine St Forest nr Eagle
Pleasant, sunny but cool day, with butterfly activity noted from 11am to 2:30pm. Gravel attracted many Admirals at midday, but a return several hours later to the same area found them greatly diminished. First Orange Sulfurs of the season found on dandelions, one exceedingly fresh. Silvery Blues rather scarce and a female observed ovipositing on vetch. Eastern Tiger Swallowtail found along forest trail, alighting briefly and allowing me a hasty pic opportunity. This is the earliest date I have ever experienced this swallowtail and blue on the wing in Waukesha County. Mustard Whites found at Lulu Lake Preserve in Walworth County, bringing my daily count to nine species.
