Location: Scott Lake Rd meets Experimental Road
Forest County
This site was a CCC camp up until 1942. I found a field full of lupine--but the domesticated kind, not the short plants. Then I found blues on the lupine--but they were greenish. Also found my first little yellow of the day way up here. Pleasant surprise on a day that started with a thunderstorm and seemed like marginal for butterfly activity.
European skippers were insane in numbers! Hundreds took flight with every step I took. Counted more than 50 in one square foot of blackberry.
