Karl and Dorothy Legler

Location: Mud Lake NABA count circle = 7 mile radius from Mud Lake Wildlife Area.
Columbia County

This was our 24th annual Mud Lake NABA butterfly count. We found 33 species which is better than usual. Conditions were seriously dry but there was a good amount of common milkweed in bloom which attracted many butterflies. Second best nectar source was clover. Broad-winged Skipper was new to this count. Record high number of Orange Sulphurs and Common Buckeye. Monarchs were present in good numbers.
