Butterfly sighting

Sep 30 2007

Ron Arnold

Location: town of Seneca
Wood County

High of 76 and windy today. The sky was overcast, but the sun came through enough to cast shadows most of the day. The Dainty Sulphur was much smaller than any I've seen previously this year, with dark hindwings below with a green tint to them. The Gray Hairstreaks were the first I've seen in Wood County. About all that remains for nectar sources now are Rigid Goldenrod, New England Aster and Hoary Alyssum. Observed a mating pair of Bumble Bees.
