I was surprised to see this species along the Wisconsin River. In Michigan this species was found mainly on dunes near the great lakes and I had expected to find this species along Lake Michigan. This species was flying with Stichopogon trifasciatus with argenteus being found closer to the water. This species was very difficult to follow on the light sand and then when it landed, I still had difficulty finding it. Part of this is its small size (6-8 mm) but also because it was somewhat camouflaged in the light sand.
In Michigan, Baker & Fischer (1975) give the flight range of 44 specimens as June 17 to August 6, but these were photographed nearly two weeks after their late date.
